Confession: I have always loved the start of school (Yes, I know - nerd alert!) The smell of fresh school supplies, new planners, a blank canvas - new year, new goals!
I never really caught onto to the whole new year resolution thing. I guess because you spend so many years of your life in school, I just got used to setting my goals and using the month of August to get organized. Of course, I try to use the new year to re - evaluate but it just never clicked with me. It really doesn't matter when you set goals but I think it is important to always be setting them to grow as a person.
Setting goals isn't just for kids in school or fortune 500 CEO's, goals aren't always academic or business oriented. You can set health goals, goals for relationships with your spouse , friends, family, finances and spiritual + personal growth. A little intentional forethought goes a long way.
I am continuously inspired by these kids and the things they accomplish at such a young age - it is exciting to see the places they go and to watch their sense of wonder in the world.
In the words of Dr. Seuss ... You're off to great places, today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!"
Whether it is the first day of a new year or the beginning of a school year ... Let today be that start of something new!
